What’s not to love about bicycling to work? It's certainly cheaper than driving your car, and when the weather is right, you can enjoy fresh air and a peaceful breeze. Best of all, it’s an easy and relaxing way to stay healthy. But, being a good cyclist means knowing the rules of the road and obeying traffic laws, many of which are in place to protect you from motorists. The Florida Department of Transportation has online brochures that cover all the important information about bicycle safety. The brochures can be viewed here. Commuter Services of North Florida also offers courses on bicycle safety. (See links on right for upcoming classes.) For racing events in the Tallahassee area, visit the Capital City Cyclists. Bike Florida, a non-profit organization that promotes bicycle safety, is a good place to learn about annual bike tours in the State of Florida. Their website also contains links to the Share the Road campaign. Florida Bicycle is a non-profit member driven organization that supports individuals and communities in their pursuit of bicycling. Their website features a variety of links on bicycle safety and education. Florida Bicycle also offers courses and workshops on bicycling.
